1999-2000 Comunity Action Fund Summaries   Pomquet, Nova Scotia Piping Plover Education Program The Pomquet Volunteer Fire Department hired a summer student to act as a guardian and educator on Pomquet Beach during high-use weekends and warm days over the nesting-fledgling season. With the help of many volunteers, our guardian spoke to thousands of visitors over the summer months. As a direct result, more than a dozen Piping Plover chicks successfully hatched and fledged on the beach. What a success!   back
