Submitting your proposal


To ensure that your project receives due consideration, please follow the submission guidelines and complete all sections of the proposal. Applicants are welcome to contact Nature Canada's Outreach Coordinator prior to the proposal deadline to determine if your proposal is eligible for IBA Community Action Fund funding. Proposals should be no more than six pages in length. Please use the template proposal that has been provided for your use. Please submit the original plus 4 copies of the entire proposal to:

No faxed or e-mailed copies please. Only project proposals postmarked on or before January 14th, 2005 will be considered for funding. Decisions on grants will be made by April 18th, 2005 and applicants will be informed of the outcome immediately thereafter.

Terms and Conditions

  1. IBA Community Action Fund grants are awarded in two installments; 90% after the signing of a contribution agreement with the Nature Canada and the remaining 10% after the submission of an acceptable final report and financial statement.
  2. Any amendments to the project must be agreed to in writing by the IBA Outreach Coordinator.
  3. The proponent must acknowledge Nature Canada and Bird Studies Canada, BirdLife International on all products and accounts of the project. Electronic and camera-ready logos, with instructions for proper display of the logos are available from the Nature Canada office.
  4. The proponent must submit slides and/or photographs to the IBA program photographic files (with final report). Materials may be used in newsletters, presentations, web site, and other IBA communications. Copyright remains with the photographer, but slides/photographs may be used by Nature Canada and Bird Studies Canada for non-commercial purposes. (slides/photographs will not be returned to the proponent).
  5. Results of all projects must be described in a final report (within 60 days of project completion).
  6. Your final repot should contain the following:
    • outline of the work completed;
    • description of evaluation mechanism and results;
    • A summary of results and achievements;
    • If applicable, follow-up action required to meet long-term goals;
    • A completed financial statement, including in-kind contributions (please use the financial statement template provided); and
    • Photos and/or slides relating to the Project.
